Massillon Charitable Funds Award $28,000 to Local Organizations

Two charitable funds at Stark Community Foundation – The Massillon Community Charitable Fund and The Arthur P. Underhill and Martha Q. Underhill Charitable Fund –awarded $28,000 in grants this year to local organizations serving the Massillon community.

This year’s grant recipients include:

  • Access Health Stark County – $4,000 to support its community health workers program
  • Domestic Violence Project, Inc. – $4,000 to provide 52 nights of shelter for victims of domestic violence at its Western Stark Emergency Shelter
  • Faith in Action of Western Stark County – $1,000 to support its team of volunteers who provide transportation for senior residents of the greater Massillon community
  • Massillon Museum – $3,000 to expand its photography exhibits and educational programs
  • Navarre-Bethlehem Township Historical Society – $4,000 to help purchase air conditioning units for three buildings that house more than 5,000 pieces of local history
  • Salvation Army of Massillon – $3,000 to purchase sanitization supplies and new commercial pots and pans for its community meal kitchen
  • Stark Community Foundation’s Immediate Impact Alert Fund – $5,000 to provide emergency relief to area organizations affected by COVID-19
  • Stark County Hunger Task Force – $4,000 to provide 28,000 pounds of food to 11 food pantries throughout Western Stark County

About Massillon Community Charitable Fund
Massillon Community Charitable Fund was created in 1982 when a group of civic leaders in Massillon came together to create a charitable legacy that would strengthen their community for years to come. For nearly 40 years, generous individuals, families and businesses have financially supported the fund, collectively making a difference in the Massillon area. To date, the fund has awarded over $225,000 to local organizations. About Arthur P. Underhill and Martha Q. Underhill Charitable Fund
Through their estate, the late Arthur P. and Martha Q. Underhill established a charitable fund at Stark Community Foundation that would benefit Massillon organizations in perpetuity. The Underhills entrusted the Massillon Community Charitable Fund to recommend areas of support from the dollars available from their fund at the Foundation.
